Battery Certification
Battery Certification for Cells, Packs, and Transport
Certificates for cells and packs under the safety standards and transport rules each market applies, tied to the battery the product ships with.
Battery Certification
Battery certification names the cell and the pack. A product certificate usually does not.
Selling or shipping a lithium battery depends on certificates that identify the cell, the pack, and often the manufacturer. A host-product approval that mentions a battery is not a substitute when a carrier, a customs officer, or a market asks for the battery file.
ORBIS takes the evidence from battery testing and obtains the certificates and transport records the battery needs, matched to the cell and pack you will actually buy.
How ORBIS scopes it
What decides the file
Identity
The certificate has to name the cell and pack you purchase. A similar model is not the same file.
Transport
Carriers ask for the test summary. We keep it with the certificate so a shipment is not held for a missing page.
The host product
When the product approval depends on a named battery, the two certificates have to agree.
Questions
Before you start
Our cell supplier holds the certificate. Do we need our own?
+
You need the right to rely on it, and a pack certificate if you build or buy a pack the cell certificate does not cover.
Is transport certification the same as market certification?
+
No. UN 38.3 lets you ship the battery. A market certificate lets you sell the product that contains it.
Bring the product and the markets.
We will tell you which of this work applies, which evidence you already have, and what still has to be done before the product ships.
