Energy Efficiency Testing
Energy Efficiency Testing for Global Market Access
Efficiency, standby, and performance testing for appliances, lighting, power supplies, and electronics, scoped to the labels and registrations each market requires.
Energy Efficiency Testing
Efficiency is a market-access file, not a marketing claim.
Many markets will not let an electrical product be sold until its energy use is measured, labeled, and sometimes registered. The method, the limit, and the label differ by country even when the underlying standard looks familiar. A number measured for one program often cannot be copied onto another.
ORBIS scopes energy efficiency testing to the product and the markets on the launch list. We identify which measurements can be shared, which programs need their own run, and which labels have to match the report exactly.
How ORBIS scopes it
What decides the file
The method
The standard names the load, the mode, and the instrument. A result from a different method is not evidence.
The label
The mark on the product has to match the registered value. We treat the label as part of the file.
EMC is separate
Electromagnetic compatibility is scoped on its own. We plan the two together when a market asks for both, and we do not mix the reports.
Questions
Before you start
Can one lab run cover every market?
+
Sometimes the measurement can be reused. The registration, the label, and the limit usually cannot. We say which markets still need their own filing.
We already have an EMC report. Does that include efficiency?
+
No. EMC and energy efficiency answer different questions and produce different files.
Bring the product and the markets.
We will tell you which of this work applies, which evidence you already have, and what still has to be done before the product ships.
