Battery Testing
Battery Testing for Cells, Packs, and the Products That Use Them
Cell, pack, and transport testing under IEC 62133, IEC 62619, and UN 38.3, scoped to the battery the product will actually ship with.
Battery Testing
The battery is often its own approval, not a line on the product report.
Cells and packs carry their own standards, their own transport rules, and often their own certificate. A product safety report that mentions a battery does not replace that file. Markets ask who made the cell, which pack design was tested, and whether the product uses the battery the certificate names.
ORBIS scopes battery testing to the cell, the pack, and the host product together. We identify which evidence the cell supplier already holds, which tests the pack still needs, and which host-product clauses depend on that result.
How ORBIS scopes it
What decides the file
Cell evidence
A cell certificate only helps if it matches the cell in your pack. We check the model, the manufacturer, and the conditions of the grant.
Pack design
Protection circuitry, enclosure, and wiring are part of the pack. A cell report does not cover them.
The host product
The product standard still asks how the battery is charged, enclosed, and replaced. We keep that in the same plan.
Questions
Before you start
Our supplier says the cell is already certified. Are we done?
+
Only if the certificate matches the cell you buy and the pack design does not take you outside its conditions. We read the certificate before we treat it as evidence.
Do we need UN 38.3 to sell the product?
+
You need it to ship lithium cells and batteries. Sales approval and transport approval are different files, and we scope both.
Bring the product and the markets.
We will tell you which of this work applies, which evidence you already have, and what still has to be done before the product ships.
