Chemical Registration
Chemical Registration and Substance Compliance
Substance notifications, registrations, and compliance files for chemicals, materials, and articles under REACH, national inventories, and product-specific chemical rules.
Chemical Registration
Chemical registration is a filing. A test report that lists substances is not the filing.
Placing a chemical, a mixture, or an article on a market can require a notification or a registration that names the substance, the volume, the use, and the party responsible. Laboratory results from chemical testing show what is present. They do not, by themselves, register it.
ORBIS prepares the chemical compliance file and the registrations a market requires, and we tell you when a use or a volume takes you into a different obligation than the one you planned for.
How ORBIS scopes it
What decides the file
Substance identity
A registration names a substance. A trade name is not enough, and a similar grade may be a different filing.
Use and volume
The allowed use and the tonnage decide the duty. We ask both before we choose the path.
The product file
When a finished product also needs substance evidence, the registration and the test report have to describe the same materials.
Questions
Before you start
We only sell a finished product, not a chemical. Do we still register?
+
Sometimes the duty falls on the article, sometimes only on the substance supplier. We read the market before we assume you are outside it.
Is RoHS testing the same as chemical registration?
+
RoHS testing shows restricted substances in a product. Registration is a filing with an authority. Many products need one, some need both.
Bring the product and the markets.
We will tell you which of this work applies, which evidence you already have, and what still has to be done before the product ships.
