Cybersecurity Certification
Cybersecurity Certification for Connected Products
Security evidence and certification for connected products under the schemes markets now apply to radio equipment, consumer IoT, and industrial devices.
Cybersecurity Certification
Connected products are starting to need a security file the way they already need a radio file.
Markets are adding cybersecurity duties to products that connect: secure development, vulnerability handling, unique credentials, and a declaration or certificate a regulator can ask for. A radio approval does not answer those questions.
ORBIS scopes the security evidence and the certification or declaration each target market applies. We work from how the product is built and updated, not from a generic checklist, and we keep that record with the rest of the product's approvals.
How ORBIS scopes it
What decides the file
The scheme
Consumer IoT, radio equipment, and industrial products are not asked the same questions. We start from the market's scheme.
Evidence, then the claim
A policy document is not a certificate. We separate the engineering evidence from the declaration or grant.
It stays current
A security file goes stale when the software changes. We tie updates to the product record in ORBIS Intelligent Compliance.
Questions
Before you start
Our radio module is already certified. Are we covered?
+
The module grant covers the radio. It does not cover the product's security duties unless the scheme says it does. Most do not.
Do we have to certify before we sell into Europe?
+
Where the radio-equipment and product rules require security evidence, yes. We read the product against those rules before we promise a date.
Bring the product and the markets.
We will tell you which of this work applies, which evidence you already have, and what still has to be done before the product ships.
